Lima Masters Honors the Legacy of Dan Finnerty with 78th Green Dedication

Lima, Ohio – May 19, 2025 – 4 the Friendship, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering lifelong friendships and life skills through youth sports, is proud to announce a lasting tribute to lifelong friend Dan Finnerty, who passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer. In his honor, the 18th Green at Colonial Golfers Club will now be known, every 3rd Saturday in July, as the 78th Green, a tribute to Dan’s high school football number and the legacy he left behind.

"Danny was the ultimate teammate—selfless, strong, and always looking out for his brothers on the field. That same spirit of service and protection guided him throughout his life, beginning with his love for family and friends. We are proud to honor Danny Finnerty with the Memorial 78th Green at The Lima Masters," said Don Barrington, co-founder of 4 the Friendship. "His legacy of kindness and strength will be remembered every time someone steps onto the 78th Green."

The 2025 Lima Masters Golf Outing will bring the community together for a day of golf, fellowship, and reflection. In addition to honoring Dan's legacy with the 78th Green, the event celebrates the power of friendship and supports Lima Youth Sports. Everyone is welcome to join—whether it's walking with your favorite team or relaxing in the lounge.
